VERY, VERY DIFFICULT TO ENTERTAIN DOG AT THIS RESIDENCE -
The heat wave came early to the high desert, so my "runs on jet fuel and a sugar water IV" pup, who's usually super-super active, is a little miffed at Mom's inability to get the sun to cool off, and even more miffed at Mom telling her to "stay out of that, too!" while she's exploring corners of the house.
YES, WE PLANNED FOR THIS -
We had some yak cheese chews. They're all over the house (hurts less than Legos on bare feet). In fact, I made a run to the pet store last weekend and bought $100 worth of "things a bored dog can chew" since we're looking at extended inferno temps.
NEED TO UP THE DOGGO ENTERTAINMENT GAME -
When this yak cheese with a stand popped up, I thought "That might add a novelty factor to things..."
And it DID!
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE VERTICAL YAK CHEESE ENTERTAINMENT FACTOR -
I didn't mean to have low expectations - I'm just dealing with a dog who seems bored indoors unless she's chewing on something of mine that is very valuable or important (RIP, vintage mink ear muffs).
As soon as the package landed on the porch, we unwrapped it and hustled it indoors, since 25 pound pup was on top of the China cabinet. Again. No, not allowed or encouraged.
She barely let me assemble the yak cheese into the holder before she took possession (presumptive, isn't she?).
STRONG BASE - ENDURES CHEWING!
Naturally, she gave the yak cheese a couple of munches and then started in on the base, which has held up wonderfully.
It holds the chewy upright very nicely, and the threads on the "axle" look to be strong enough to endure a lot of chews.
YAK CHEESE IS GOOD
Says the pup. She's enjoying it.
WAGGLE FACTOR - UNEXPECTED BONUS -
Last night, after we'd administered "chillax meds" (pup and mom) and exhausted the novelty factor of:
*yak cheese
*cow's ear
*goat's horn
*elk antler
*salmon rawhide
*seaweed rawhide
*three turkey tendons
*one desecrated cardboard box (not scheduled for demolition),
--I grabbed the yak cheese in its holder and waggled it, making some nice, rattle-y noise that IMMEDIATELY captured pup's attention. And we had peace and quiet for at least another 30 minutes.
YOU DO NEED IT -
You may look at this stand and cheese and think "Seems extraneous" but really, it's like getting 3 more entertainment experiences. Yak cheese + vertical yak cheese + rattle-y yak cheese.
IT IS WORTH EVERY DANG PENNY!
Especially during inclement weather. Save your sanity and entertain your dog - get one today!
